Personal branding
What is personal branding, why it shapes how recruiters find you and how to build it without inventing a persona.
A personal brand is the professional perception others have of you: what shows up when a recruiter searches for you, what former colleagues say about your work, and the story your LinkedIn profile, your resume and your network tell —or fail to tell. Personal branding is not inventing a persona: it's making the value you already deliver visible, and consistent.
Why it matters in your search
In Latin America a large share of openings moves through the hidden job market: referrals, contacts and recruiters who look for candidates before posting the role. There you're not competing with your resume but with your reputation. A clear personal brand does three things: gets you found (a profile optimized with your role's keywords), gets you remembered (a consistent message about what you do well) and gets you recommended (your network knows what you're looking for and can refer you precisely).
How to build it without inventing a persona
- Define your message: in one sentence, what problem you solve and for whom; it's the base of your elevator pitch.
- Align your channels: LinkedIn, resume and video CV should tell the same story, with the same keywords.
- Show evidence: concrete achievements, projects and recommendations, not adjectives.
- Show up where your industry is: commenting and contributing thoughtfully builds more than posting for the sake of posting.
How Ingenium works on this
The 22-point employability diagnostic reviews how a recruiter sees you today —resume, profile and digital presence— and where your message contradicts itself. In the Career Accelerator, the elevator pitch, the video CV and the storytelling work build that brand piece by piece, with your Career Coach making sure it sounds like you and not like a script.
