DISC test
What the DISC test is for: its four dimensions (Dominance, Influence, Steadiness, Compliance) and how to use it in interviews.
The DISC test is a behavioral assessment that describes how you act, decide and communicate across four dimensions: Dominance, Influence, Steadiness and Compliance. It doesn't measure intelligence or knowledge, and it has no right answers: the result is a profile that blends the four dimensions in different proportions, with no good or bad profiles.
The four dimensions
- Dominance (D): results orientation, quick decisions, appetite for challenges.
- Influence (I): communication, enthusiasm, ease at persuading and connecting.
- Steadiness (S): consistency, patience, collaboration and preference for a stable pace.
- Compliance (C): precision, analysis, adherence to rules and quality standards.
Nobody is a single letter: the useful profile is the complete map, with its high and low dimensions.
What it's for in your job search
First, self-knowledge: it puts words to your natural way of working, which feeds directly into your personal SWOT and the strengths you'll stand behind. Second, interviews: many companies in the region use DISC or other behavioral assessments in their hiring processes, and arriving having already taken it removes the anxiety of the unknown —and lets you talk about your profile with examples instead of adjectives. Third, focus: knowing the environments where you perform best helps you decide which openings to aim for.
How Ingenium works on this
The DISC test is a step of the Career Accelerator and is taken entirely inside the platform: 28 groups of statements, a result with the score for each dimension and a personalized reading based on your career stage. Your Career Coach uses that profile in session to connect what came out with your personal SWOT and your job search plan.
